The saga explored in this text is "a long compilation of almost all Germanic heroic legends known in contemporary Germany, organized loosely about the most popular German legendary hero, Dietrich of Bern, adn set chiefly at the court of Attila, conceived of as having been at Soest in modern Westphalia.
