"The Apology consists of three parts; the first of which, (extending down to end of Chap. 24), contains the defense of Socrates against his accusers, whom he divides into two classes, and an avowal of his determination not to employ tears and supplications to influence the minds of his judges. The second part, (down to the end of Chap. 28,) contains his address to the judges, when he had been condemned by their first sentence, and ordered to assign his own penalty; and the last part (to the end) what he is supposed to have said after he had been condemned to death." --Introduction
