In 1680, he was appointed as the Chief Rabbi of the Sephardic community in London, where he remained until his death in 1705.During his tenure in London, Nieto worked to strengthen the Sephardic community and to promote Jewish education and scholarship. He also played a key role in the development of the Bevis Marks Synagogue, which remains one of the oldest and most important synagogues in the United Kingdom.Nieto was a prolific writer and scholar, and he produced numerous works on Jewish law, philosophy, and history.
