Poems in Hungarian. Géza Képes (1909–1989) was a Hungarian poet, translator, and noted polyglot. Born in Mátészalka, he became known for his lyrical sensitivity and intellectual cosmopolitanism, often drawing on a wide array of languages and cultural references in his work. A prolific translator, he introduced numerous foreign poets to Hungarian readers, notably from French, German, and Slavic traditions. His own poetry blended classical clarity with modern themes, reflecting both humanist ideals and personal introspection. Képes spent much of his life in Budapest, where he died in 1989.
