"In 1988, I conceived the idea of publishing a book that documented the perceptions and experiences of each G-2-5 WWII marine. I asked each of my G-2-5 comrades to write an essay about their recollections of what history has defined as the bloodiest battles of the Pacific Theatre. Later, I began to collect photographs and citations for this publication. As the stories began to trickle in, my reasons for publishing the book changed. I wanted each of my band of brothers to have a book to pass on to their children and grandchildren. I wanted to provide a written legacy for the G-2-5 Marines who fought in the bloody battles of the Pacific--starting with Guadalcanal and ending with the occupation of China." // **Somewhat heavy item.
