"Miguel Mir y Noguera (1841–1912) was a notable Spanish historian, writer, and Catholic priest, recognized for his extensive contributions to historical and spiritual literature. Born in Palma de Mallorca, Mir was particularly known for his role as the perpetual secretary of the Royal Spanish Academy and his scholarly works on Spanish mysticism and religious history. Among his most prominent works are “Historia interna documentada de la Compañía de Jesús, a critical study of the Jesuits, and his biographical and spiritual writings, including “Santa Teresa de Jesús: su vida, su espíritu, sus fundaciones. His essays often explored the relationship between science and faith, notably challenging certain interpretations of Darwinism within a theological framework. Mir’s legacy as a historian is marked by his intellectual rigor and his contributions to preserving the cultural and religious heritage of Spain." —translated from Real Academia de la Historia. Contains press clippings in English and Spanish and type-written Spanish language translations of NYT articles about the book's contents . // Jesuits, History; Anti-Jesuitism; Antijesuitism
