"For five and a half years I broadcast a regular commentary on foreign affairs over KPFA, Pacifica's station in Berkeley, California. These commentaries were rebroadcast off and on over the other two stations, KPFK in Los Angeles and WBAI in New York. During this period I received a considerable amount of mail from listeners with requests for copies of the broadcast scripts. From time to time letter writers suggested that I compile a selection of commentaries and publish them in book form.
