Robin Lampson (1900–1978) was an American poet, novelist, editor, and educator best known for his ambitious verse novels rooted in California’s history. Born in Sonoma County and later based in the San Francisco Bay Area, he studied English and Russian at Stanford University. His two most noted verse novels are Laughter out of the Ground (1936)- an epic treatment of the California Gold Rush, and Death Loses a Pair of Wings (1939) - which celebrates the efforts of Dr. William Gorgas in overcoming yellow fever .
