The International Critical Commentary series was founded in 1895 under the editorship of S. R. Driver, Alfred Plummer, and C. A. Briggs, published by T. & T. Clark of Edinburgh. The series set out to marshal all available aids to exegesis — linguistic, textual, archaeological, historical, literary, and theological — without imposing uniformity of interpretation on its contributors. Gould's commentary on Mark appeared in the opening group of volumes, with George F. Moore's Judges and Sanday and Headlam's Romans (both 1895) and Plummer's Luke (1896). | The International critical commentary,; [v. 27]; Variation: International critical commentary; v. 27.; International critical commentary on the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments; v. 27.
