"In order to bring you, the collector, a price guide that is simple to use, we have incorporated detailed line drawings that are accurate in every respect, but not to scale. The descriptoins are brief and to the point. We have purposely omitted from the descriptions terms such as drip points, internal threads, petticoat, etc., as these are vividly illustrated on each sketch. We have, however, described each insulator as to exact size, both height and width, and color. [...] This book contains 549 different sketches of insulators. With each sketch is listed the color of variations, from one color up to four colors - brining the total number of insulators in this book to well over 800 pieces. Since this book is not in color we thought it would be confusing to include an illustration for each color of a like insulator." --Introduction
