A very nice copy. Profuslely illustrated in b&w (some color) photographs, and some well-done, well-printed full-page color illustrations (paintings). Chiefly illustrations with some text. Books is much more attractive than its jacket suggests. Excellent b&w photos of Tasmanian Devils, numbats, wombats, thylacine (Tasmanian tiger), and many others. Birds, marine mammals. Zoologie -- Australie. Zoology.

"Charles Leslie Barrett (1879–1959) was an Australian naturalist, journalist, author, and ornithologist who made significant contributions to the popular understanding and appreciation of Australia's natural history. Barrett began his career as a journalist and later became the editor of the magazine "Wild Life," which focused on Australian natural history. He also worked for the Herald newspaper in Melbourne, where he wrote extensively about nature and wildlife. As a naturalist, Barrett conducted numerous expeditions across Australia to study its unique flora and fauna. He was particularly interested in birds and was a founding member of the Royal Australasian Ornithologists Union. Barrett was also a prolific author, writing many books on Australian natural history. His works were known for their accessible style and their emphasis on conservation, and they played a significant role in raising public awareness about Australia's unique wildlife and the need to protect it."
