Child psychology ¶  "Earl Barnes (1861–1935) was an American educator, author, and a prominent figure in the field of education during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Known for his progressive ideas and his emphasis on child-centered learning. Barnes was born in New York and graduated from the University of Michigan in 1882. He later studied at Johns Hopkins University, where he earned his Ph.D. in 1887. He taught at several institutions, including Stanford University, where he served as a professor of education. Barnes was married to Anna Koehler Barnes, who was also an educator and a feminist. Together, they founded the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia. Barnes wrote several books on education and social issues, including "Studies in Education" and "The Reproduction of the Species." His work was influential in shaping the field of education and in promoting progressive ideas about teaching and learning.
