Vaclav Hlavaty = Václav Hlavatý (1894–1969) was a Czech-American mathematician known for his work in differential geometry and its application to Einstein's theory of relativity. Born in the Czech Republic, He emigrated to the United States in the 1930s and became a professor of mathematics at Indiana University from 1945 -1969. He made significant contributions to the field of differential geometry, particularly in relation to the theory of relativity. He published numerous papers on the subject and his work is still cited in contemporary research. In addition to his academic work, Hlavatý was also involved in the Czech-American community. He served as the president of the Czechoslovak Society of Arts and Sciences and was a member of several other Czech-American organizations. ¶ Geometry, Differential.
