Abigayil and her five kittens live in a stable in Bethlehem. A man and woman come to the stable to sleep. The baby Jesus is born and wonderful things begin to happen. "Rouben Mamoulian (1897-1987) was an Armenian-American film and theatre director known for his innovative use of camera and sound techniques. Born in Tbilisi, Georgia, Mamoulian moved to the United States in the 1920s and quickly established himself as a pioneering director in both the theatre and film industries. In theatre, Mamoulian directed the premieres of several iconic Broadway musicals, including "Porgy and Bess" and "Oklahoma!" His innovative use of continuous action and integrated song and dance sequences helped to shape the modern American musical. In film, Mamoulian is known for his innovative use of camera movement, sound, and color.
