"The Way of a Pilgrim and The Pilgrim Continues his Way were first published as a continuous narrative in one volume in 1941. This strangely simple document of Russian piety is now offered in an edition entirely redesigned and reset, with new illustrations and additional notes. The Abbot of St. Michael's Monastery at Kazan discovered the manuscript of this book in the possession of one of the monks at St. Athos. He made a copy of it, and this was printed at Kazan the year after his death, i.e. in 1884. The name of the author is unknown; but he was a Russian pilgrim, and in his book he tells of his experiences as he wandered about from one holy place to another in Russia and Siberia, apparently during the few years preceding the liberation of the serfs in 1861." --Jacket.
